C2 Hood Release Cable Repair

Over the past many years there have been several posts about repairing original cables due to breakage. I've seen suggestion from buy a repro, use JB Weld, mine was to silver solder and press fit.

Saying that, who has actually drilled out the old wire and successfully put in a new wire that has held in place since the repair?

I have two I need to drill and install a new cable.

Harry, I think your idea would work fine, soldering into place. If you can successfully remove the inner cable its worth a try. I would think the JB would not be strong enough. drilling the old cable with maybe a 1/16 in. bit??
