    Tires for 1995 corvette

I am a new corvette owner, and cannot find tires for my 1995 Corvette.

I need Goodyear Steel belted Radial
Eagle 40 ZR Unidirectional & Asymmetrical
    Front P155/45Z R17
    Rear P285/40z R17

Does anyone have any they want to sell?
Checked with Goodyear and do not seem to be in stock.

Maureen,I am sure you're aware that the tires and wheels on your Corvette on not original to your car. The stock tires should be 245/40-18 and the rears should be 285/35-19. That being said, I really don't know where to get 155/45z-17. Tire Rack has the 285/40z17. My personal suggestion, unless you're absolutely in love with the wheels, would be to find a set of stock rims (available on many web sites including our very own Driveline) and then buy the original size tires as noted. IMHO.

I had the car judged at Local and plan to have it judged at Regional next year in Tucson. The NCRS book calls for that size tire, so I have to use that size. Hopefully, someone know where to get the tires.

        Re: Tires for 1995 corvette

Maureen - Welcome to the NCRS and congratulations on taking the first step to get your 95 judged. Sorry, but Leif is incorrect about the sizes. I suggest you review your owners manual and the tire label on your car. And order yourself a copy of the Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide for the 1994-1996 model years from the NCRS store - worth every penny of the $50.
Assuming your Corvette is not a ZR-1, the standard size tires are 255/45-17 on 17"x8.5" rims for the Front and 285/40-17 on 17"x9.5" rims for the Rear. Optional tire size w/ the Z07 suspension package is 275/40-17 on 17"x9.5" rims front and rear. Most likely, you have the standard size setup. The original tires are Goodyear Eagle GS-C or Goodyear Eagle GS-C EMT (extended mobility "run-flat") and they are actually location specific with the standard suspension because of the different sizes and the tread pattern (the tread direction is specific to each side of the car - so a left front only works on the left front, etc.)
Now, the Goodyear Eagle GS-C tire has been discontinued for all intents and purposes. There have been limited production runs of the GS-C EMT version and you will occasionally find them on Tire Rack, but I haven't looked in a while. You will also see them for sale occasionally in The Driveline (and check the NCRS Online Classifieds) and on other internet sites. Iwould caution on driving much on aged/old tires (there are plenty of discussion threads on that point you can read)
Goodyear does manufacture a tire in the correct size. I think it is the Eagle D-3 or GS-3 but search Goodyear's website or Tire Rack or another tire site and you should find it. Since Goodyear is the original supplier, you will loose the least amount of judging points having Goodyears on the car versus some other manufacturer.
        Good luck with your 95!
Also, the GM Heritage Site has a free copy of information for most years of Corvettes that will give you some of the specs and information for your 1995 and is worth a look.

You cannot obtain a complete set of Goodyear GS-C tires anymore as they are discontinued.

However, if you want to stay with Goodyear, you can still obtain a set of 255-45-17 (front) and 285-40-17 (rear) in the Goodyear F1 GS-D3. These tires are available (but definitely not cheaply). The main problem is that these tires have a tread design that is WAY different from original. But, you can still get them in the correct sizes and Goodyear brand.

I believe you could also go with certain Pirelli tire model(s) which are also available in the sizes you need. These would have a "more conventional" tread pattern (but still totally unlike the original GS-C) but they would, of course, not be Goodyear brand. They would also be super expensive.

The answer to WHERE is ANY GOODYEAR DEALER. The tires are still available through Goodyear. Of course, I doubt that any dealer will have these in stock but they can order them. If that fails, the Tire Rack has both sizes in stock.

If I run the Tire Rack site right now it shows them on backorder. So, if I were her I'd call the Tire Rack and order them so I'm next in line for the tires.

Calling Tire Rack ask for Luke Pavlick, 574.287.2345 ext. 362

If they are available he will find them. Tell him I sent you.

                  Maureen,

My apologies...Thomas is exactly right. I was thinking 2005 not 1995. Wanting to assist before fully engaging the ol brain. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your car!!

                    Patrick------

Several weeks ago when I checked on these sizes (not for any need of mine own), the Tire Rack had them. I guess they've had a "run" on them. That's not surprising as these are the only Goodyear tires available for most 1993-96 Corvettes (except ZR1 and ZO7) However, Goodyear says these tires in these sizes have NOT been discontinued. As a matter of fact, they are still carried in both sizes on their web-site. So, even if they are out-of-stock now, they should be available in the future.

If Maureen's needs are more urgent, then she'll have to select another tire brand and there are FEW that manufacture a tire in both of the required sizes for most 1993-96. That's a big problem for most 1993-96 owners. The fact that different size tires were used front and rear means that if one wishes to have a matched set, one has to find a tire brand and model that's made in both sizes. Eventually, the Goodyear F1 GS-D3 will be discontinued and when that occurs, there probably will be no Goodyear tire available for most 1993-96 Corvettes.

Sure you can. I backorder shooting products all the time. You ever try to order powder or bullets or primers recently? It makes backordering tires look easy.

Maureen Welcome to NRS. You may want to put in a order with your local Goodyear dealer. The service replacement for your car is a F1 GS-D3 255/45-17 front and 285/40-17 rear. Goodyear still shows these tires to be available. However my Goodyear dealer said they are not in production at this time and it my take several months to get them.

                          Maureen,

I bought a pair of new old stock GSC's rears from Dino's Corvette Salvage last year and they are in as-new condition. You'll pay about $700-800 a pair.
