My 59 has a T10 4 spd in it with the main housing having the casting #T10-1 with a casting tag below it with 6-17 on it and it also has Q1 stamped below the T10-1. It has an assembly date of WA2892 stamped beside the side cover. The tailshaft has a casting with the T10-7A on it with the casting dates on individual molds. Starting from the small end of the tail housing, these #s are upside down as well as being right side up. Unsure what some should be. Hope someone can help out. 1st letter is either a W or M followed by either a 6 or 9 then a 92 (upside down and probably backward) as it is followed by 58 (which is right side up). I'm thinking it should be W92958. Would this be correct given the other info above. Ser # is 115**. Also, what is the casting T10-7A breakdown on the tailhousing? What is Q1 and the 6-17 on the mainhousing? I did do a search on this, but not sure about some of it. Anyone else have #s mixed-up on the tailhousing like this? And 1 last question, does all of these seem to match-up for correctness of transmission and for the ser # of the car? Hope this is not too confusing on the tailshaft #s. No, I don't have a way to post pictures, wish I did. TIA Al

Re: C1 T10 casting numbers & dates
I believe the "M" is to reference the "Messina" aluminum foundry that GM owned, looks very normal for an early Tailhousing.Bill Clupper #618- Top
