Previous owner must have changed it from the original factory shifter.

Can’t see any numbers on it but appears to be a Hurst Competition Plus.

Is the reverse lock-out lever (T-handle) actually functional on this shifter?

I had a Hurst shifter on my 69 that looked like the original one but the reverse lockout was not functional.

The T handle on my 63 feels like it is a functioning as it should but there is no lock-out cable.

Did a little research this morning. I believe I may have a Hurst Street Super Shifter and look alike GM shift lever currently sold by Holley (www.holley.com). The T handle on their shift lever must be internally sprung so it feels like it is functioning as original GM equipment but is not actually a reverse lockout. Reverse lockout on this shifter is provided by the extra effort it takes to move the shift lever to the left far enough to get into reverse. Can't do it by accident.

What I meant by "fully functional" is a reverse lock-out that actually functions as a reverse lock-out not just "moves-up-and-down".

These shifter levers have been available for many years to be used with Hurst linkage to maintain original appearance. However, NONE were ever factory installed. Ever.

            Re: Hurst Shifter Identification

I have a 69 Corvette that I try to keep looking as original as possible. I purchased an original looking handle with the reverse lockout device which is not functional. It is for looks only. This fits onto the Hurst Shifter and looks all original.

I also have a 57 Corvette with a Hurst Shifter. See my previous post in this thread. If anyone can help me identify this Hurst Competition Plus shifter as to what year it may be I would appreciate it.

GM certainly used some Hurst shifters and even Ford built transmissions as original equipment, but not in Corvettes. My first car was a 1966 Olds Cutlass with a heavy duty 3 speed transmission with a floor shift. The factory shifter was a Hurst but my biggest surprise was the FoMoCo cast into the iron transmission case. Prior to the fully synchronized Muncie 3 speeds, Olds used a Mercury trans. Strange but true.

Patrick if you did not order the 4 spd or TH400 the 1968 1969 Camaro and Chevelle L78 used the FORD 3 spd trans as well.

Hope you are coming along well on your 67.

James- I am glad to hear that the Firestone 500s worked out OK on your brothers car. I finished the 67 several years ago, and I have enjoyed showing it at the Old Town Alexandria Festival of Speed and Style. This show is held on the Main Street of the town and is free to the public, and about 15,000 attend each year. While the Corvette world looks down on Goodwood Green, the general public thinks it is rare and exotic. My car usually gets much more attention than the Ferraris that are parked next to it.
