I need to install a new radiator in my 59. The one I currently have is unsalvageable. My options are a brass replacement from Paragon or an aluminum replica from DeWitt's. DeWitt's gets rave reviews for performance. That's for sure. I'm more concerned with appearance than performance right now because I'd like it judged as close to original as I can. I've heard some people say the DeWitt's appears extremely close in appearance to the original brass. I've also heard the brass replacement from Paragon isn't quite correct for judging too. Has anyone had experience with either of them? Just looking for advice.

Re: Replacement Radiator for 59
I own a 1960 and if I needed a new radiator tomorrow, it would be from DeWitt. High efficiency and as close as you can get to original in appearance. Expensive, but I have never heard anyone say they regret purchasing one from DeWitt.- Top

Re: Replacement Radiator for 59
That seems to be the general consensus. I've not heard anyone talk bad about De Witt's. If it's appearance is a close to dead ringer to the original then that's the way I want to go. Hopefully someones ordered one whose in a position to compare and let me know.- Top

Re: Replacement Radiator for 59
I have judged cars with a Dewitts aluminum radiator and they are very very close. The only reason I know what to look for is I have one in my '60. Assuming it is painted black like the original brass, most would never know. Don H.- Top

Re: Replacement Radiator for 59
I purchased a Rad from Dewitt about 10 years ago for my 59. It worked great, but here are a few things to consider. The Dewitt is slightly thicker and needs to forced into the rad support, at least in my case. How are you going to attach the Copper date tag? When I found and original/refurbished copper one, it installed much easier that the Dewitt one. Just my 2 cents- Top

Re: Replacement Radiator for 59
First let me say that Dewitt makes a great product and I have used many and sold probably a hundred or more.
However there are many specialty radiator shops that have the exact core and will use your original frame to make a perfect reproduction.
I would recommend Walker Radiator in Memphis as they did my 58 and it was perfect just like the original, however Walker only does Hot Rod Radiators now and will not re-core an original. There is nothing magic about a brass/copper radiator as radiator shops have been re-coring them since the Model T.
