How much does a reproduced (Non factory) midyear trim tag hurt the value of a nice midyear.% wise

Bob, the trim tag and VIN are your cars DNA so to speak. any modification of either of these will hurt the value of your car. A new trim tag will stick out like a sore thumb.

To my knowledge, contrary to what the vendors tell you, there is not an undetectable repro tag out there. If caught during judging, the car is branded counterfeit.

The value damage will depend on the buyer. The next guy that owns your car may not have a clue and just wants the car to look cool, so damage will be minimal. However, if the next owner knows anything about NCRS and/or wants to have the car judged and sees the reproduction trim tag, well, grab your garden hose to put out the fire he leaves behind running from your car. IMHO, play with fire you better be prepared to be burned, and bad. So, to answer your question, example 1, maybe 10%, example 2, 100%.
