    65 rear bumper shims

My 65 had 5 rear bumper mounting bracket to rear body panel shims . They look like they could have been natural steel . does any body know for sure .

All I have ever seen seem to have been natural. But, its hard to tell, they are usually rusty.

      Bill,
Thanks for this thread! Months ago I dropped mine into a jar of Evapo-rust and forgot about them. After reading this thread I figured I should see if anything was left. I found the jar and the Evapo-rust had turned to a nasty jelly like stuff. (Oh great!) I said to myself. Rinsed them off in some hot water and was delighted with the results. My vote would have to go with dipped after seeing what was left. Now they are safely packed away with the restored brackets.

Bill, for what it's worth, I had my shims cad plated. They are so obscure on the car after rebuild. The cad plating just helps with rust inhibiting. When the shims are installed, you can't really see much of the shims anyway. Your choice.
