Just saw a video from classic Muscle cars .com on a 54 red Corvette. They showed you the underside of the car and the sales person said the strps that hold the axle in place were missing. One was broken and hanging down the other missing and it appered to be made out of rubber. Were these strapes on all C1s? This car also had holes in the frame in which the exhaust pipes ran through into the muffler. Were all C1s exhaust systems built way with holes in the frames?

Re: 54 axle straps
Walter
Solid axle vettes have / had - axle limiting straps
It prevented the axle from dropping to low and the driveshaft becoming cocked in the end of the transmission at an odd angle.
They are made of a heavy weave impregnated cloth material ( I am sure some one will be more technical)
The are looped thru brackets in the frame and the end is looped over and riveted together
Yes - On the X part of the frame there is oval holes on the LH and RH side for the exhaust pipe to pass thru before it goes into the muffler.1954 Corvette #3803 - Top Flight 2012, Bloomington Gold 2012,
