    C2 Regulator rebuild

    Hi Guys

Thought I'd rebuild my pass side vent window regulator.
Now that I have it out, a question about how to remove the main "spur" gear. There is a round disc on the bottom of the housing. Do I tap it CCW til the cutouts line up with the peened edges or do I just bend back the peened edges and remove the whole assembly?

Any recommendatons on whose repair kit to buy. Paragon's is side specific and Corvette Central's is half the price and a universal fit

    Any other rebuild tips appreciated

    Randy

    bend back the peened edges

what expectations do you have for the degree of operations? do you want it to pass a Performance Verification? or just improve the operation of the regulator? The reason I ask is no mater who you buy from, there's a good chance the handle will walk if you roll the window half way and jiggle it. you have to shim up the gears inside and to tighten up. However, I would buy the steel ones not the pot medal

Randy, the first thread down below by Joe Talka has some good information, and I recall there is more in the archives. However, there is an article either on a chapter website or in the restorer that goes through this step by step. I can't pull it up for you right now because it is on one of my corrupted discs and it will be a while before I recover that info. Maybe someone can find what I'm referring to.

        Thanks Dan,
I was just looking to improve the operation of the vent, not judged. I was worried about the peened edges breaking and not having any means to retain the disc.
On another note, I have researched the gear and I suspect the Paragon gear is side specific because it retains the factory stops on the gear. Apparently the cheaper universal fit gears do not have stops. I am leaning toward the Paragon gear but I do not know it it is steel or pot metal.
