"66 L79 Vert #1241-- Deducted in judging for carpet with no cornrows. Have read manuals and searched site-- still don't understand what these are. I even called Al Knoch Interiors-- they said they didn't know, either, but that their carpet sets are "as original". I've read posts debating who makes the best repros, but are they accurate to J P Stevens OEM, including "cornrows"??
To me its a descriptive term referring to the appearance of the carpet loops. Carpet with very distinct and segregated loops looks a bit like the rows of corn on a corncob. Other carpet does not have this distinctive pattern and in extreme cases has more of a cut pile look.
corn on the cob would be a better definition of the appearance, if the judge wrote that it may have been clearer. but you could have talked to the judge about it when he reviewed it with you. if you don't ask it is assumed it is understood. when in doubt........ ask questions, this is a hobby of sharing within NCRS.
No one makes an original like carpet with the corn rows, - NO ONE..!!
You will need to find an old shop that may have some left over or a junk yard (not publically) with some 60's GM cars. And then there's the double stitching and . .. Just buy a good repo!

Sorry to disappoint you Alan, but that is just not true.
I am not sure they have all colors in stock, but he will know what "corn rows" are and the proper direction for them to run. The heel pad may still be an issue, however -- unless you have an original for them to sew in. Talk to him, and tell him I sent you.
Terry,
do they have carpet with the clear thread woven in the loops that twinkle under light?
It is an obvious detail on a C2, just by opening a door and looking at the kick panel carpet.

I've attached some samples of both Al Knock and ACC midyear Corvette carpet. These samples are sitting on an original 1965 Corvette jack board carpeting. The far right sample from ACC shows the corn rows, the problem with it is that if you could see the sample up close and in a section view the carpet loops are too short as compared to the other samples and the original carpet. I am at the point of needing to make a decision on what carpeting I will put in my 1965 convertible but haven't found any clear choice.
