Mike, I recall the ad shows location and contact info only if logged in as a user. I don't think a "lurker" or Guest can see it.

edit....I believe anyone can "Contact Seller" via the sites' Private Messaging system. Each ad has a link to do that. But as a Guest it won't show location.

Because the passwords are encrypted in the TDB we have no way of transporting them into the Classifieds and make them work. When you reset your password you will be resetting it in both places so it will work in both TDB and Classifieds.

The NCRS Classified Ad website has been up and running for two months now. Alot of time was involved by Gary, John and Rob to get the website online for the benefit of all NCRS members. NCRS members can place a For Sale or Wanted ad for Corvettes, parts, etc. It appears that not many NCRS members have visited the website or even know about it. Have you visited the NCRS Classified Ad website and what is your opinion?

I was one of the first people to put a for sale ad on the NCRS for sale website.
But I found that the traffic was pretty slow but I will try some other items in the future.
I think the $2.50 listing charge is reasonable but in my case I can list something like 5000 items (stupid number) on Ebay for free.
I will continue to try some NCRS listings but at some point economics come into play.

Stats show 12,000 plus visitors in 60 days. Personally, I've sold 2 items and have listed 3. My 3 items have had over 500 views each. That's more than I had on ebay for the same items and it cost me $9 bucks apiece for a 7 day listing.

Classified Ads site does need to be promoted by NCRS members to make the site known. Such as mentioning on Facebook, Twitter and other Corvette related blogs.

President Vito mentioned in the current Restorer President's message and Eric put a promo on the last page of the Driveline.

I've listed and sold several items, and have received inquiries from non-members who have seen my ads, so it's getting outside exposure just like other classified sites.

With ebay & their paypal partner getting about 13% final sales commission these days for parts, it is a much more economical venue here.

The math......a $1000 item here costs $2.50 for the ad. If you sell it there is NO commission.

Sell the same item on ebay and at costs you nearly $130.00. Plus they charge 10% commission on the SHIPPING CHARGES, and another 3% Paypal fee !!!

All we need here is more exposure, both inside membership as well as non-members. It's just gonna' take some time. IMO It'll be quite successful in the end.

As a newsletter editor, I plan to plug it in our next edition. I have seen it in several other newsletters, too. Maybe I'll plug it in multiple newsletters. It probably will take some time for it to hit full speed.
