Has anybody used or know whether this independent GM Dealer is selling top rate GM PARTS? Their prices are far lower than the norm.I have been pricing new 66 radiator grilles. GMPartsDirect is $100 to $150 cheaper than everybody elses. Dutch

Dutch,
I've bought many parts from gmpartsdirect.com over the years. They are a GM dealership (Flow GM) back East, I think. Their shipping costs are high, even for small items, so it's not worth going thru them if you're buying only a few inexpensive parts. But for larger ticket items or items in large quantities you can save quite a bit, especially if your local GM dealer is like mine and they will only sell at GM list price. I stopped going to my local GM dealer years ago since it was list price for everything.

Very often, GM dealer "list price" here on the west coast is not actual GM list but a price inflated from GM list on a sliding scale based upon the cost of the part. For lower cost parts, the "dealer list" might be inflated by 50% or more from GM list. For higher dollar parts, the "bump" might be only 10-15%.
By the way, GM Parts Direct sells the parts at dealer cost (not including stock allowances they receive from GMSPO). Their profit is generated from the shipping and handling charges (plus, as mentioned above, any stock allowances they receive). In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: GMPartsDirect.com
The parts that GM Parts Direct sells are OEM GM parts which they order directly out of GMSPO, just like any other dealer. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Joe,
I wasn't aware of the various markups that GM dealers on the west coast use. All I know is that whenever I've gone into Courtesy Chevrolet in San Jose with some document that proves to the parts person that I know the list price I've seen on the internet, I've never, ever, been able to buy the part for less than list. Eventually I switched to gmpartsdirect.com and I just wait until I have 4 or 5 things to buy so that the shipping cost doesn't kill me.
