Leaking Holley 4-barrell carb rear bowl.

Gas seeps underneath the rear bowl where it attaches to the carb. I replaced front and rear bowl gaskets and those between the carb/intake manifold and the one between the two carb sections. Still wet, not a terrible leak but it is there. When I place a straight edge on the bowl surface I do see a little daylight between the two ends. Before I send it out to a pro will a double gasket do the job or cause any problems. Thanks, Mike

Michael is your Holley a double pumper? If it is check for the absolute straightness if the accelerator pump metal attachment. I had a leak on a Holley because over years of use it bowed a little and would not provide a good seal for the accelerator pump.

      Michael,

To add to Jim advice, did you replace the bowl screw gaskets with new snug fitting gaskets. I used the plastic reusable screw gaskets once but they seeped gas because they were not snug around the screw (ID) so I use them on top above the gas level.

Still baffled. I replaced the screw gaskets. Last night I doubled both bowl gaskets. Fired it up, brought the temp up, no leaks. Shut her off and periodically checked; no leaks. 2 hours later, no leaks. This morning the under side of the bowl is wet with gas, not dripping.

I don't think it is Jim, thanks for responding.

            Mike,

I think you are almost there. Try tightening the fuel bowl screws when the car is cold, take another run and get it heated up and see if the leaks repeat when it cools off again. It sounds from your description that something is contracting when it cools. I find that sometimes the gaskets need to take a set with heating and cooling a number of repetitions.

Also you didn't say what type of gaskets you are using. Although maybe not NCRS correct, I like to use those blue resilient gaskets you can get for any auto parts store carrying Holley parts or online.
They are a little thicker and a lot more forgiving. Just may sure they are the right bowl gaskets for your Holley list number.
