C2 Spare Tire Orientation

I know this might seem like a crazy questions, but how was the spare tire orientated inside the spare tire tub on C2's. Was it with the back side of the wheel or front of the wheel towards the ground? Thanks for the help!

My '67 owners manual shows a picture with the whitewall or outside of rim up and backside of rim down to the ground

I thought I remember reading somewhere that the tire is stowed with the valve stem pointed up so that the pressure could be checked without removing the tire.

Also lots easier to install at the factory with the outside of the rim up - center hole to hang onto.
