I'll defer to others concerning how it affects judging. I'm curious myself actually.
The trim tag suggests that the (body) assembly date was Nov 9th, 1966 (D09), so I'd say that somebody, for whatever reason, stamped some related meaningful date (Nov 20/29?, 1966) into the tag...ack!!!. Maybe it was the purchase date or customer delivery date applied by new owner? Or maybe the dealer stamped it for some reason? i.e. delivery to dealership date, although I've never heard of such a practice.
As a occasional new car set up mechanic during the '60s the "DD" on the VIN tag was there for us to stamp in the original "delivery date" or "in service date".
We almost never stamped in the delivery dates because there was a respect for the VIN tag even in those days. And the Stainless tag was difficult to stamp.
Chevrolet wanted the date stamped to designate the start of warranty.
I do not have any original paperwork from the period with instructions, like an original form or TSB, explaining the set up procedures.
Wondering if someone on the TDB has "new car set up" instructions or forms ?
