    65 TI Ignition Harness question

I just replaced my engine-side wiring harness with a replacement from Eagle Wire Products.
Much more correct than old harness with correct wire colors, lengths etc.
My car is TI equipped, what do I do with two blue-with-purple-stripes wires that are joined together with a connector.
It appears that this would attach to the positive side of the coil, I don't think that is correct since I tried that and the car would not start.
    Disconnecting them solved the problem.
My question: should I cut these wires off or just loop them up with tape out of the way?

Are these the ones you're referring to ? If so, they stay connected . this is off an earlier (ie. not solid pink) L78 car.

Wayne..that's what my OLD harness looked like..Sorry, didn't take a picture of the new harness.

My new harness doesn't have that, especially with tape wrapped around t.

BTW, I meant BLACK-with purple stripes wire..

I wonder if L78 wiring harnesses are different from a L79 harness.

Re: 65 TI Ignition Harness question

Murray -- yes, there are 3 different 1965 engine harnesses; one for air cond, one for 396's, and one for everything else (L79,L76, L84). Per the AIM, all three require some rework to accept the K66 amplifier harness. I'm hesitant to describe what has to be done with respect to the black w/pink stripe wires (that join together with a side-open terminal at the coil +ve post), because if you cut and remove the wrong one, you're toast . [hint -- the one that comes directly from the ignition switch, through the firewall, stays; the one that comes from the outlet side of the ceramic ballast resistor (on non T.I. cars) gets cut off and the ends taped into the main harness trunk].

IMO, the AIM doesn't describe the steps in enough detail. Most suppliers of the transistor harnesses include instructions on how to attach to an engine harness.
