Who has good luck buying brakes. I need to put a new set of calipers and soft lines on a 69 driver. Any advice on who has a good product, some of the kits look good for price. I have heard stories of really poor rebuilds. Not sure if the brakes on car are original, I will keep them for a later resto if they are.

My philosophy is I’d rather spend the money for a quality product once than spend less for an inferior product that may fail and then you find the need to spend more $$$.

So you like the brand new calipers that require no core charge.cal
Anthony's point is a good one--Lonestar does not charge a core deposit on new calipers and CSSB does (CSSB core charge is $220). Both Lonestar and CSSB charge core deposits on rebuilt calipers.
Return shipping isn't cheap, to send your old cores back. It depends on distance, but you can estimate based on 50 pounds of shipping weight for 4 calipers. As for recommendations, I have a set of Lonestar's O ring calipers on mine and would recommend them unless your heart is set on black (like the originals) calipers, as Lonestar's are painted silver. The silver is nice because it is far easier to see seeping/dripping brake fluid on a silver painted caliper vs. shiny black (from CSSB).
If you buy from Lonestar, you need to call them as their website is for wholesale only. They will sell/ship to retail consumers if you call and buy over the phone. Note too--if you want O ring calipers, telll Lonestar that specifically as they ship lip seal calipers by default.
The only difference (than price and paint) I could tell from Lonestar and CSSB, is CSSB's rubber brake hoses seem a bit better (but then again, I couldn't get the CSSB caliper to brake hose connection to quit seeping brake fluid, which forced me to return theirs and start over with Lonestar--long story). If you go with CSSB, and you have problems getting the hose to caliper fittings to be dry and tight, you might try using a single washer instead of the two they recommend--I didn't do that on mine, as I did not have extra washers and by that time the hoses were on so tight (at CSSB's suggestion), I couldn't get the hose loose without cutting the hose and getting on it with an impact wrench. Lonestar ships their calipers with one washer and I was able to get both front calipers to seal, having to retighten one of them a second time after the initial post-installation test drive.
Michigan Brake has good product. I had them do my calipers, o-ringed, several years ago. And they are painted black. All you have to do is clean the paint off the machined surfaces and the are ready for judging.

Kurt, Do you mean Muskegon Brake? http://www.muskegonbrake.com/ I'm shopping calipers too but would like Delco Calipers and correct for '68. Any chance of getting that with any of the above companies? I'm also concerned about painting Lone Star calipers black and then having a problem with them taking a return. Any advice? Lone Star's website has a problem too with their security when you try to register to get prices. Is that a red flag for them? Thanks, Terry

Yea, Terry. Muskegon Brake. Hey, it's in Michigan isn't it. I'm an old fart and sometimes wonder who the guy in that window in the bathroom is.

I have the wheels on my 67, so I cannot see the casting numbers, but this much I do know. With both Lonestar and CSSB they are Delco and the casting numbers were the same for both vendors but they were not correct casting numbers for a 67. If memory serves I think they were 5473795 front and 5473806 rear. Why they both advertise as correct casting numbers, I do not know, as it appears they make no effort to match casting numbers to your year. With CSSB I was expecting correct #'s based on their website and catalog.
On Lonestar pricing, you have to register and I can see pricing on their site; to order (unless you're a business) you will need to call Lonestar. If you cannot see pricing, just call them. I don't consider that issue a red flag, when you look at it from the standpoint that their website is for wholesale only and they do sell at retail, if you call them.
