Started my 60 FI after a long Winter nap and have a fuel leak from around the cover on the spill plunger assembly. The car started easily but this is a serious leak. I see in the servicing guide that there is an O ring on the sleeve and also for the cover. Does this problem sound like an O ring failure or more of a spill plunger problem? This is a 200 unit and has not had any service work other than a new shaft seal and electric solenoid fuel shut off added over the last 20 years. I've only used 100 LL since pure gas has become hard to find. I have a rebuild kit purchased many years ago and assume it would contain the O rings, if that is what is needed. Is there any other reason for the fuel leak from the cover? Thanks, Chuck Banks

Re: Leak from spill valve cover
Chuck, you're talking about the lower cover, I assume, that has the three tabs around the circumference that the attaching screws go through? I've had one leak in spring also. The o-ring, even with old good gas, would get hard as a rock over the years, and would come out with a cross-section square rather than round. The o-ring is in a rebuild kit. It's a standard size, and available in your local parts store if they have fuel-resistant rings. That should be all you need.
good luck with that great old '60 you have.- Top

Re: Leak from spill valve cover
Hi Mike, Thanks for the quick reply. Yes, that's the cover I'm asking about, and I do have an 0-ring in the kit that appears to be the correct diameter. I'm hoping I can use a stubby or flex drive screwdriver to remove the screws and not have to remove the fuel meter. Chuck- Top

Re: Leak from spill valve cover
Chuck, I had a similar experience a couple of years ago when I started my '60 for the first time after winter. I would suggest you get a Viton seal (green) as this is compatible with the current pump gas - available from any F.I. supplier. I know you said you only run 100 LL (I do too) but if you need to run pump gas it is ready. After my experience, I added that O-ring to my carry parts in both of my fuel cars. I still want to see your beautiful '60 sometime. Good luck, Don H.- Top
