am in need of the absolute vacuum regulator that fastens to the suction throttling valve. my original regulator sprung a leak. hate to tear it apart and renew any o-rings/ seals that may be (or rather almost certainly are) inside the critter. anybody have a source? anybody taken the regulator apart successfully( its got tabs that fasten it together and i fear the tabs will break off on disassembly) . would the c-60 system function at constant sea level if i run the ac without the regulator? thanks guys, mike

Re: 64 air conditioning
Mike looking at my 1964 Corvette supplement service manual of the picture of the absolute vacuum regulator I do not see o-rings. A couple heavy darken places could be seals. There was a regulator for sale on E-Bay that ended in June. It said it was rebuilt and sold for $90.XX. Wonder where the parts came from? Was the absolute vacuum regulator only for Corvettes?- Top

Re: 64 air conditioning
Yes it will. Mine (66) has a vacuum leak somewhere so I have the vacuum line connected for appearance but it is plugged internally. From my service manual "The absolute pressure regulator device on the STV used with Corvette Air Conditioning System acts to maintain a relatively constant pressure (regardless of altitude) in the sealed adjustment spring chamber of the STV thus minimizing the effect of atmospheric pressures in the operation of the valve.
