    67 427 horn relay

Just had the horn relay rebuilt and it appeared to be black when I shipped it out for rebuilding....got it back and the cover is not painted. Does anyone know if it was originally black? I know the voltage regulator is black. Dave

    Dave -

The 837 horn relay cover was zinc-plated, not painted.

Dave - As far as I know, the 67 horn relay covers were unpainted, but I have seen varying amounts of black paint on the covers probably from blacking out in the engine compartment. The voltage regulator covers were originally painted black as you noted. Pete

        Peter,

Wasnt the blackout process done prior to installation of engine bay wiring harnesses, regulator or any relay or plastic connections through the firewall? This is about learning for me.

Yes, it was - all of those items were assembled on the Hard Trim Line, after the Paint Shop.

Thanks John. As I thought from the study of the Restoration Guides.

              Dave,

Here's the before restoration photo of the 67 Horn Relay in John's picture.
This is an untouched original on a 67 327, not sure if it any different on a 427.
