Norman and others, Typically the decal location on a C4 oil filter decal is 5/8" down from the exteme top edge of filter. Does not include the rubber gasket thickness.
Decal is upright just like in the above pics.

Look in the '84 up Judging manual for a photo of a NOS black oil filter that came from the assembly line. I supplied that photo to Tom Barr and others years ago when the first C4 manual was made. John
