Early 1971 Rallye Wheels Paint Need it anyone!

My 71 Vette is an early production number and my Rallye Wheels are the slightly green tint silver and not the normal plain silver most 71's have on them. I can not find any supplier of this color. Does anyone out there know how I can get this color in a spray can or paint can? Please help me and send me a supplier and contact info with the part number if you can. Thanks in advance!

If I were to put the plain silver used on Mid production Vettes (1971) on my wheels would I get dinged at a show? I kind of want the green tint as it is more rare!

If you search on the forum using the words rally green I think you'll find old threads, and one or more will have the color code for you to use.

I believe the last supplier of the green tinted Rally wheel paint (Quanta) no longer has it based on previous reports here. You might call them (they advertise in The Driveline.) to see if that situation has changed. If they don't have it you may have to resort to having your wheels scanned at a paint shop and have them mix some to match. That would be the most accurate method under any circumstances as that green tint was not consistent through 1969 & 1970 production.

Depends on who is sponsoring the show. At a non-Corvette event, in all likelihood, most of the viewing public would not know original wheels had a green tint.

Quanta no longer has a supplier! Still checking other sources. And I am asking about a NCRS event would I get dinged for no green tint on my wheels with an early production date?

Re: Early 1971 Rallye Wheels Paint Need it anyone!

I went ahead and purchased the NPD product for 70 Camaro Wheels, because it was 12 bucks but also 9 bucks shipping. So not cheap but a lot cheaper then having the wheels matched and paint mixed. I will compare it to the wheels when I get it and let you know. I am going to also try and clean the outer wheels and buff them to save the original paint and just touch up the scratches from the cap and rings that seem to scratch the wheel everytime you put them on, I know the Rallye wheels are cool and give the Vette that classic look but the more I work with them the more I really hate them, poorly made and heavy as Hell. Anyway its the way it came so until I can afford a second set of wheels and tires for driving pleasure the Rallye's are on. Thanks for the help and I will keep you posted on how it turns out.
(P.S. no I don't really hate the wheels, they are cool but like everyone the 15 inch wheel and the front wheel well on my 71 sure make it difficult to find tires that are both performance and fit. Sorry everyone I am not going to be driving around on 2 ply 260 buck reproduction of the original 5 inch wide tires, first at that price I would hate to drive on them anyway and I just do not want to go back to a 2 ply tire when there are much better tires out there. Anyway, lets stay on the subject here and not wonder!)

Well keep this in mind, when the car is coming together more if I can not find paint that works I will just get it mixed from this mix. Thanks
Right now I am going to try to clean and puff the wheels to save the paint there and try the NPD paint from above to see if I can touch up the scratches and so on.

One last comment all this nice painting and then you put the rings and cap back on and the paint gets scratched again, seems stupid to me but thats what happens, anyone know how to get them on with out scratching.

And when you put the trim rings or wheel cover on no one (including the NCRS judges) can see the scratches anyway -- so why sweat it?

They can see scratches / chips along the edge of the wheel. That's where I would touch the wheels up, if I were going to do it.
