NOS Side Exhaust Center Shields Value ??
I saw a set on NOS center section side exhaust shields for sale for 600.00 for the pair. They were purchased in 1975 and still have the original boxes. This is about the same price as the GM Restoration Parts. Is there a difference in quality? I hate to pass up any NOS parts that I'm able to use.

I sold a set of those for $2500 in 1992, they were still in the box. With that being said I had three sets of them and also ruined a cover just cleaning it with some soap and water. I had a smudge on it and when I put a little pressure the huge flake of chrome came off. You have to be careful about the age of them, they were aluminum and they were cheaply plated. I would still pay $600 for them and use them to show with, but I would not drive with them. If you are driving the car also get a set of reproductions to install, they are made on the same tooling.Comment

Well I sent the payment today and I'm expecting them early next week. This is only the center sections for that price, I wouldn't expect to get a whole set for 600.00. I can imagine the plating process wasn't as good as it is now. I just have to locate the end pieces, which could be an issue.Comment

I received the side exhaust center covers today. They do look great. Still in original boxes, purchased in 1975. Now I need to find the front and rear sections. it's going to be a hard decision to take them out of the boxes and actually install them on my car.Comment
