    Trying to Save Threads

I know there is a number of products out there, but I am hoping to hear first hand from a few of you guys that have actually tried things.
The actual application I am dealing with is: I am putting my original B B A.I.R. tubes back into the exhaust manifolds.

These original tubes are almost impossible to find, so I want to do everything I can to preserve them.

What have you been using, or found to work best. Especially in an area the gets so much heat and cool cycles.

I am open to hearing any ideas.

Monte, used www.antiseize.com in the brake and clutch industry presses from '74-'76 to prevent platens, molds, and bolts in high temp presses from seizing. I also used it on my exhaust manifold bolts in '74 and removed the bolts in '97 with no problems. Steve

I use anti-seize on the tube nuts, just as Steve does; try and find original air manifolds for a '69 Z/28 .

Everything here gets a coating, if you wanna take it apart again, you use anti seize, if you want to keep it together we use loctite. Started that over 40 years ago and neither have failed me.

Example of anti seize effectiveness. When I was in fleet maintenance we had suspension bushings that had to be replace fairly regularly. Without anti seize you would see 70-80 tons on the pressure guage when you disassembled the component. With, never over 10 tons, most of the time less than five.

          Thanks guys,

I appreciate the input. I am aware of the anti seize products, but wanted to make sure before doing anything because of the constant heat and cool cycles of the exhaust manifolds and A.I.R. tubes.

After thinking about it a bit more, I have a pair of aftermarket A.I.R. tubes for the car too. Got them back in the 80's. I think I will run that set for every day and use the originals for judging days.

          Thanks again for chiming in.
