68 console shift plate

I just removed mine. Not too bad condition wise, but does anyone know of a person with patience to tape off the chrome strips before paint then paint the cross flags down the bottom?

Just got done rehabbing mine. Don't tape the chrome. Prime and paint chrome and all. Clean chrome after each coat with q-tips and lacquer thinner. Be patient this process works great!

I painted my console, let the paint dry a bit and then used a razorblade to peel the paint off the chrome.

I guess I have patience, but I used tape which I then trimmed with a razor blade. It worked very well and I had no issues.
The side of a #15 blade will then smooth the tape edges when you remove it, else just a TINY bit of lacquer thinner on a rag.

That's great all. Thanks. What was your paint preference ? Some primed and some didn't.
