Rear control arms Date stamp - C3

Any of you C3 Guys know the size of the font for the date stamp that is applied to the inside of the rear control arms. Thanks Ed.

The size of the stamp is a as follows: Width is 1 7/8" and height is 3/8". Example of how the date reads:
OCT 30 1970. Month is all capital letters, no comma after day of month, and year is 19_ _. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the quick reply Ron, If anyone knew I thought it would be you, as I know you are the chassis guy.

That font was available at office supply stores back in the day -- and may still be. That kind of date stamp was used by librarians to stamp the "return due" date on borrowed books beck before computers.

The ink stamp is white in order to show up against the black coating of the control arm. IIRC: The driver's side is up-side down, and the passenger side is right-side up -- but best to have some of the chassis guys chime in on one that to be sure.

          Terry & Ed,

Based on my observations of Bowtie cars, some stamps are upside down and some were not. I have the stamps made here in CT right down to the exact font and size. I had a couple made for Stan F. for a car he is doing. I also emailed Ed to ask him to give me a call so I can assist him.

Does anybody have pictures? What do you guys mean upside down and right side up? How far aft of the pivot was the stamp? I am ready to have a stamp made for a March 17th, 1970 build date, any recommendations on a good date for the this? After I stamp my trailing arms I am willing to give it to someone else if anybody needs it

            Thanks

I am at the same point for a June 6 1970 build date. What is the name of the font? I am sure I can have one made locally.

              Thanks,

I am just curious why the pictures cannot be posted here for all NCRS members. I have exchanged private pics as well and just wondered why not here for all to see and comment. Please do not take this the wrong way. There may be a very good reason

                  Thanks,

Hi Edward. Took me a while to figure out how to post pics. Feel free to email them to me at bogp9@aol.com.

I have built a LOT of arms and I think I only had one or two that still had that stamping on them when they came in. Most are long gone after a couple of years of driving.
