I just purchased an original dated Big Block 1107365 starter and unlike the one from a 74 that it will replace I noticed a few taped holes in the case . can someone verify that the holes are supposed to be there. I have no idea what their purpose should be?

Re: 67 Starter case question
Craig,
There should be 4 countersunk holes for the 4 "Pole Shoe" screws (#34 in drawing) that attach each "Pole Shoe" (#44 in drawing) to the case on the inside. The head of the screw is tapered inward to fit in the countersunk hole.
BTW, I have an original 1107365 starter dated "8 B 14" (Feb. 14, 1968). When I get a chance I will try to locate it.

Re: 67 Starter case question
Thanks Dave, but the 3 holes are maybe 5/16 thread one at the bottom and 2 at the back side near the solenoid.
the starter is definitely a original 365 , are these holes original to this starter, I have nothing to compare to a Oct,66 starter, Thanks

Re: 67 Starter case question
Craig,
Here are photos on my "1107365" starter dated "8 B 14" (Feb. 14, 1968) with a "1114356" solenoid (possible service solenoid) and a "750" casting on the cast iron nose (with 3 bolt holes). I bought the starter at a swap meet back in the 1980's but I believe that it is a rebuilt starter since the pole shoe screws are the phillips type and I believe that the 1114356 solenoid is a service solenoid.
There are no extra holes in the case. For additional photos refer to the link below.
Dave
