Heater Box Repair Just Above Y-duct 66-67 - Got a Photo?

Tomorrow, I should be able to look at a 1967 non-air heater box, and I assume it's the same as my '66 non-air heater box.

In the meantime, does anyone have a photo (or drawing) of the area that holds the y-duct? On the very end of my 1966 box, the screw hole (for mounting the y-duct) is fully torn away. I assume the hole is somewhere in the torn off corner, but I am not sure how far from the corner. I think I can guess how far from the bottom edge I'm rebuilding with fiberglass.

Why don't I just hold the y-duct in place? I don't have one at the moment. It's probably been gone since the damage was done...

Don't go out of your way to answer this. As I said, I am pretty sure I can compare with a 1967 unit tomorrow. Please do answer if you know they are different. THANKS!

I found this on e-bay, item number 370770573312. There are a two photos I found helpful, but my '66 does not have a rectangular hole in the end like this one...

The screw hole is visible in two of the photos, and I will try and steal one for posting here.

The picture you posted is of a 63 box. It's the only year that had that rectangular hole. There was a 63 only air duct attached over it. Forgetting the hole, where the Y duct attached (screw holes) was essentially the same.

        Tom,

I'm not exactly sure what photo you want. As usual while looking for other parts I came across the Y-duct from my 1966 Corvette.

              Tom,

Thinking that the Y-duct was not installed in my 1966 I thought that I could easily take a few photos of the heater box - wrong.
Everything is installed. The Y-duct in my photo above is a spare.

Thanks to all you guys. Harry Sadlock wins the prize for most photos! I really do appreciate all this.

                    Thanks again.

I had too many pictures to post. They are of a total rebuild of a box, I sent them to Tom in an email.

Since mine is a 64 this may not be relevant, but mine was broken also but i had all the peices. My Y duct looks like one posted above by David. For the mounting hole which faces the rear of the car (not the drivr side), the heater box has a round boss on the inside to reinforce the hole around the screw (screw goes thru the Y duct into the heater box thru the boss. Mine broke right through that boss and of course took a chunk of the thinner portion below it with it. Since I had both peices I glued them back together and then but a flat washer on the inside around the boss and epoxied it. You just have to be careful not to get the repair into the area where the air flap will travel which doesn't give you much room.
