Has anyone ever heard of the service offered called PROVE IT which is offered thru David Burroughs to authenticate my car for a sizable fee.
Prove it writes a forensic report with findings and conclusions, and say they are far more in depth than either NCRS or Bloomington Gold Certification and are designed for the purpose of authentication instead of recognizing preservation or restoration skills.

Forensic is A HI-FALUTIN but not well defined term. I'd want to know a lot more about the methodology employed and the individuals involved before I'd be dropping coins on the table (or stacks of cash)

Their process takes independent testimony from subject experts(?) who do not know who the other experts are who are asked to comment. They need to examine the bonding agent used on fuel filler cup closely with high definition photograpy. By the way, the fee is quite expensive as I'm sure you've guessed!

Previous owner history? Racing background? How much research did you do prior to purchase? Do you really want to know? I'd rather invest the money before a purchase rather than after, but that's just my opinion...

Only thing I have to go on is from the used car dealer I bought the car from back in 1968 here in Cincinnati, I was told it was owned by a GM executive from the Chicago area, which turns out from NCRS it was sold from the dealer Harrison Chev Company in Janesville, Wisconsin.

So I have a real dumb question. If you bought the car in 1968 and it was then as it is now, what would have been the incentive in 1968 to build a fake 63 Tanker? I know currently the financial incentive is astronomically different between a plan C1 or C2 and a very limited built car.

Do you have the name of the exec? Generally an exec turned a car over every year. Any tracking of the owners between the exec and the dealer you bought it from?

I wish I had more to go on, but I agree, who would take the time and money to put a big tank in and make it look original back in '68. This car looks orginal to the last detail I can find. Only thing is this is a early November car.

Is Harrison Chev in Janesville (or its immediate successor) still open and selling Chevies? If so, delivery of a '63 coupe tanker to a "Brass Hat" from Chevrolet might have been a "memory" for retirees or the owners of the dealership. Check with the Library in Janesville to see if they still exist.

If it is from Janesville, in those days the only folks on the program in '63 likely would have been the plant manager or one on his immediate staff.

That's it ??? Even confirmation of Richard III's remains required more proof than that .
Couple of pics of this area on my early '65. I'm guessing that subject experts would do the DNA on the "ooze" around the fuel filler "pie plate" and compare with bonding agent nearby.

I have a '66 that was ordered by the Director of Personnel at Harrison Division. It's not a tanker, but I did get the order copy from the dealer in near-by Medina, NY. (They allowed me to look in the file boxes myself - Why didn't I look for the other Corvettes that same man had delivered there?)

The point is: Someone in that area of WI knows someone who worked in the GM plant office back then. Old GM people keep track of co-workers and events. (For styling names, check out Dean's Garage on line, at http://deansgarage.com).
