Alternator belt too close to radiator hose even when hose is on correctly - 63 vette

I did a previously post concerning this issue. I was advised it was a common mistake. I had probably put the bottom radiator hose on backwards. I took the hose off. It was not easy, as I had to loosen the radiator shroud. It was on backwards, so I turned it around so that the arrow faced toward the block. When it was on correctly, the problem was worse. The alternator belt was then hitting the bottom radiator hose. So I put it back on with the arrow pointing toward the radiator. At least now there is about 1/4" between the alternator belt and the bottom radiator hose. Any idea as to the problem? Thanks.

The hose may have learned it's position when backwards. It got twisted.

If you use a new hose I think that may solve the problem.

Ray, Along with Rich has to say, Being in the automotive trade sometimes the hoses are not molded correctly or cut to the proper lengths. I currently have a reproduction hose on my 63 small block that fits just fine.

I had this happen on my 63 while driving it 100+ miles home after I bought it. When I got it home I noticed the inboard side of the radiator was wet with coolant. I thought the radiator had let go until I discovered a pinhole leak in the hose from the belt rubbing. A new repro hose cured the problem.
