    '75 FE7 HD shock numbers - Help

    Hi,

Can anyone help with part numbers for '75 HD FE7 shocks?

My AIM shows part #4984803 for HD v. 4984667 for std. suspension on rear. On front it only lists one shock as 4984666 for std.; no HD shown. Broadcast codes for FE7 are AC/front and PF/rear.

    Any help would be great.

    Thanks,
    Tory

My study of buildsheets (and other documentation) with FE7 HD shock vs base suspension in 1975 produced the following:

Front, base = 4984666 with code JX
Rear, base = 4984667 with code JY

    Front, FE7 = 4984577 with code ?
    Rear, FE7 = 4984578 with code RD

As I recall when FE7 was rolled out in 1974, it used F41 part numbers. so, 1975 was the first year of FE7 with new part numbers. Those numbers for FE7 continued until 1978 when FE7 equipped Corvettes were shipped with either the original FE7 shock or its service replacement series that documented by the AIMs, did not show up until 1979. What I'm saying is that Pace Cars both base and FE7 were shipped with one of the heavy-duty designated shocks and this is only known by field observation. It would not have been unusual to have a similar situation occur in the 1974-75 heavy-duty shock transition period. The way to figure it out is look at Bowtie cars with original shock configuration and identify shock number and code.

Keep in mind that these are on-shock part numbers and NOT the on-box part number for SERVICE shocks (which may have the same-as-original on-shock part numbers)

        Joe,

Do you concur with the numbers Tom provided? I'm looking for the on-shock numbers.

        Thanks
