    Exhaust-ing search lt-1

I have need to replace exhaust system inc mufflers on 72 LT-1 (in Australia) done my research in archives but nothing recent with reference to quality/ease of fit etc of a current preferred/best available suppliers have looked at the two previously suggested original type system suppliers and have a quote from each that differs by $376 (without shipping) also been a little confused re reference to N11 but I believe this refers to a muffler wher one baffle has been removed? would be happy to hear from anyone who has purchased/fitted a system recently PM would be good
    thanks john

N11 mufflers had 2 internal tubular baffles whereas standard exhaust had 3. No N11 system was ever originally used on any LT-1, though. Use of that system was only during the 1963-68 model years.

I think your best bet for a replacement system is probably an aluminized system from Corvette Central or an aluminized or stainless steel system from Allen's Exhaust.

so N11 looks the same externally? therefore choice becomes original (as close as posible) or loud! anyway cc price best but I have not investigated Allen's so will do before my final decision

Last time I checked, Allen's was not interested in shipping outside the USA.

Externally, the standard and N-11 appear the same. However, the standard systems often have a "W" (for Walker) embossed on the muffler shell whereas the N-11 often have an "A" (for Arvin).

SERVICE N-11 systems from GM were supplied only with the welded-on rear exhaust pipe, so the installed configuration was identical to PRODUCTION. Standard systems were never supplied with welded-on rear pipe like that used in PRODUCTION. Instead, the mufflers were supplied with a welded-on forward extension with slip joint and SERVICE rear pipes were shorter than PRODUCTION to accommodate the muffler's extension (original rear pipes if used with SERVICE mufflers had to be shortened).

Original N-11 mufflers give a nice sound to a car. Have '68 factory mufflers on the '72

I have a 71 LT-1 that I put the CC N11 system on last summer. Fit was good and the install wasn't bad. The challenge for me was that I put it in with the car on ramps. I am happy with the purchase. I bought the system that was not stainless steel. Car doesn't go out in the rain or snow and I only do about 1000 miles a year so the regular system is fine for me. I honestly didn't notice to much of a difference over the NAPA system that come off when it comes to sound/volume.
