Is there a sure fire way to tell if a 69 originaly came with side pipes. All I can think of is to look at the backside of the tail pipe cut outs on the rear valance. If there is no sign of there ever being cut-outs then it must be a real side pipe car...right?
That's the best one Greg, because it's a pain to change that glass. No threads in crossmember ground holes, no lockwasher digs where the muffler brackets are hung from the frame, probably others too.
By request we go out of our way to tell everyone all the clues in the TIM&JG. If one has enough money and/or talent they can all be faked. There is no sure fire way to tell original 1969 sidepipes. That is the price y’all pay for wanting ALL the information.
And if we had held somethign back and revealed it here, what do you think the results would be?
For me the best reassurance would be original paper work verified by the NCRS documentation service. Other then that all other items can be faked as Terry has stated.
