I can't find any Chevrolet passenger car or light truck application for the GM #3861950. So, even though it's a Chevrolet part number, I expect it was used for some other GM car line(s).

I have one back on the rack in the parts room. I cannot remember what it fits, Dayco catalog says it was used in pairs on '69-69

From what I came up with is 1968 427 Alternator without A/C and P/S.

It is depicted as Item 8, Option page L36, Sheet A7 in the 68 AIM. It is an alternator belt, positioned on the second belt track.

Yes, I see now that it is listed in the 1968 AIM for the L-36 application. However, strangely, it was never cataloged by GM as the SERVICE belt for that application. In addition, it was never even classified by GM as a part used for the Chevrolet car line (although other belts of the 38619xx series were). So, a Chevrolet dealer could only have ordered it if the customer specified the part number.

I would imgane that the alt.and brackets may have been the same on the 69 435 car.

In 68 and 69, the crankshaft pulley called out in the respective AIM's for L36 is the same: #3921923. Similarly, in 68 and 69, the water pump pulley is the same: #3889372. However, the 68 alternator pulley is #3829387 and the 69 alternator pulley is 3846180.

For both model years, there appears to be no different pullies called-out specifically in the respective AIM's for the L71.

I believe L-71 used crank pulley GM #3863108. This is a cast iron pulley. The GM #3921923 used for L-36 is a stamped steel pulley.

The only PRODUCTION Corvette application as evidenced by the AIM that I can find for the GM #3861950 belt is 1968 with L-36.

Yes, Joe. I agree. There is ample evidence in the literature that I've reviewed to suggest that you are absolutely right.

Although I can't find #3863108 in the 68 and 69 AIMs, it may be included in the "parts list or bill of materials" for the L71 option that is referred to therein.
