I've been trying to get a correct length belt for my alternator on my 67 327-300 w/ PS & AC. CC has sent two, the 1st 59" & the 2nd 53 1/4". the 53 1/4 places the alt at the far end of the adj slot in the arm w/o being able to get it to tighten enough. The rep said he has different length belts & can stamp 1 with the correct part # if I know the length it needs to be. How much shorter should the belt need to be to get it in the center of the adj slot & what is the correct part # for the belt. Again, the 53 1/4 length is at the far end of the slot. Alternator pulley # is 3909817AW as shown in the JG crank pulley is 3850838 the adj arm is correct. Please help!!!!

I had similar problems with trying to get belts to fit my 1967 327/350 HP car with AC only (no power steering). Both belts were a problem. Nothing seemed to fit. The AIM was no help.
I finally bought two cheap belts with lengths longer than I needed. I cut the belts and measured them to verify the lengths. Then I installed them on my car with the AC and the alternator in the center positions. I marked off what was excess and measured it. Then I ordered belts with the new (and shorter) lengths.
You may have to do the same.
For me, it turned out that Quanta had two reproduction AC belts with the same part numbers (but with an A and a B suffix) to fit depending on the air conditioner clutch diameter. I (obviously) needed the other one. The alternator belt that finally fit my car was listed for a 1965 Corvette with 327/365 HP and air conditioning. Go figure. All my pulleys etc were exactly per the 1967 AIM.
Drastic times require drastic actions.

The AC belt part number was correct, since Quanta A and B suffix were not present on the belt. The part number on the alternator belt was correct for the 1965 car. At this point I really didn't care, I just wanted the d@*n belts to fit. Ten years later, the belts are still on the car.

Larry, finished the measuring and low & behold mine also came out to be for a 64-65 350/365 HP w AC from CC at 52 1/2" Actually measured 52 3/4" , but close enough. Still unsure what to do on a part #. Any judges out there to offer help?- Top

Dave, sorry to be so long getting back on. I cut an old 3/8 belt I took off my 59 some time back to measure the correct length & it came out to 52 3/4". I'm not sure if a different pulley dia. was used on the 61amp alternator, which results in the belt difference, but according to the JG I have the correct pulleys. As with Larry M. the correct length is the same as for a 63-65 327-350/365 with AC. I'm just not sure if the correct # for 67 will be the same as the 63-65. Need Input from those with more knowledge on this subject.- Top

I had the same problem with my 67/327/300, but with a Vintage Air system and replacement aluminum crank pulleys (alternator is original). The correct alternator belt (53.25") put the alternator bolt right at the end of the slot with my original alternator arm. It was OK with a replacement arm where the slot is longer, but I wanted to go back to the original arm. It worked but no adjustment for wear or stretching.
So I went to a 64-65 350/365 belt w/AC, which is 52.5". GM part no. is 3847702 and Paragon sells it as part # 1570-W (Quanta wrapped belt). On my car, it puts the alternator bolt about 2/3 of the way to the end of the slot, which I think is were it should be.
You might give one a try on your car.

I had the same problem with my 67 327/300hp AC, PS car. I forget which belt I ordered but I eventually found one that worked. I can take a look at it and/or measure the one I took off it you still need help. Just let me know.

Thanks Kirk, I've got a belt now, I was just needing to k now what the correct part # was to have stamped on it, But I guess no one knows or else it is a top secret item. Nothing listed for 67 is correct, so I'm just assuming that it was a carry-over from the 65 350-365 HP engine- Top
