    61 Headlight issue

    Question

When you turn the headlights on the low beams on both side work fine. ( outer lamps )

When you put on the high beams both the two passenger lamps ( inner and outer) come on and none of the lamps on the (drivers) right side come on,

I know the lamps are good because I pulled and tested them,

Could this be a relay ?

Where would be the best place to start, to trouble shoot, meter out ?

    Thanks

Bill I don't have a C-1 wiring diagram. but would tell you to take your meter or test light and check for voltage at the headbeam wires on drivers side with the high beam on. if you have voltage look for a ground problem.

Also wire harness connectors can be a problem if it still has the old harnesses. Sometimes I will wiggle connections and watch to see if lights come on.(dimmer switch, fire wall connections, at headlights)

No relays to check. Check connections where front harness plugs in to cream colored connectors on underside of front panel just in front of hood. Also check dimmer switch.

If you have never cleaned the terminal ends in the harness connectors, they are probably due. I took each connector apart and used a light sandpaper or steel wool to clean the terminal ends, and then reconnected. It helped a lot. Take them apart slowly and match wire colors when reassembling.

            Dimmer switch gets my vote.

May be the lt green wire is broken or like others said dirty. Dimmer switch would be suspect if neither worked but cannot be ruled out the connection there may also be dirty.
