Testing Guidance Request: I am in the process of restoring a horn relay switch and the voltage regulator for my 1958. Does anyone know how to test these items on a bench and not hooked up in the car. I am open to suggestions. My local parts stores said they could not test these items anymore with there equipment. I am willing to buy any test equipment if someone can guide me in the right direction. Thanks for your help. Eric

The applicable Passenger Car Shop Manuals of that era have extensive diagnostic/test/adjustment information for the voltage regulator, in the "Engine Electrical" chapter. Those manuals are available from the NCRS Store ("NCRS Shop" icon at the top of the page).- Top

Re: Electrical Help - 1958
The horn relay is fairly straight forward 12volts to the center terminal ground the S terminal and you should have 12v to the horn. The regulator requires some special equipment to do a bench check but can be done with the gernerator battery and regulator out of the car. I can send the pages from the shop manual if you want.
