    gas lid

A friend of mine has a gas lid for a 66 corvette with the stampings with the part numbers that are correct for that year, the problem is that he also has stamping above the 30181 ( stamped d267) does anyone know what means?

Morris, The gas lid on my 1966, that has been on the car since 1967, has #38144041 30181H
This is not exactly what you asked, but perhaps will help.

With the exception of the roller door in 63, all of the gas lid chrome bezels are the same, stamped as quoted above.

38144041 30181H is the correct number for C2's. I have a bunch of assembly line gas lids and they have those two numbers on one line. In judging, two lines gets you a deduct. Don't know what the d267 means. There is probably a Restorer article on this issue.

Those on the TDB today obviously have their shopping done!

All on one line, Morris. No "bottom line". Here's a pic.

How do you think this '65 fuel door would judge ? Looks like they ran out of room, the 8 bounced, and no place left for the H. My two other '65 doors are as you describe.

I think I can answer that, Wayne, but I don't deserve the credit. Joe Ray told me this several years ago.

MANY moon ago, a Canadian company called All Tru or All True made repro gas lid doors. This is/was the same company that used to make repro Corvette interiors.

I have a 63 gas lid door JUST LIKE the one in your pic. The "H" is missing and/or scrunched at the end.

The casting numbers in the hinge area of my original 1966 Corvette fuel door are "38144041" and "30181-H". These are the same numbers as what Ken posted earlier. Photos are in the link below.
