Need a diagram/exploded view over the AC STV valve for a 1963-66 factrory AC Corvette

Does any here have a exploded view of the STV valve that is on the factory AC corvette from 1963-66 that can be mailed to me?

Claus, as I recall the STV changed into a POA valve, I just can't remember the year. What year is your C2 this may help us locate what you need.

Claus, I assume that you assume the STV does not work. As I recall there is some small O-rings at the inlets and outlets. In the interior there is a piston and a diaphragm. Usually the diaphragm cracks and the STV looses the ability to keep in-check the high-side and low-side pressure. In years past when you bought the rebuild kit it came with the piston and diaphragm, now you just get the diaphragm

I just ordered a rebuild kit for my 63, about $65.00 from a AC restorer in Tampa Florida. I believe he will restore it for about $275.00 if you send it to him. I decided to try rebuilding it myself prior to sending it out. Unfortunately I have a fully charged system and I hate to loose the freon. It's also a bit cold here in NH to be playing with a 50 year old AC system.

I was thinking of sending it to the US to have it restored but it will be shipping parts from Europe to the US back and forth so i rather restore it myself

I have ordered the restore kit

The STV was used up to and including 1966 Corvettes. Some other Chev products began to use the POA.

Here's a X-section view. The '65 Corvette shop manual has an extensive section on C60 and also an exploded view of the STV, which I could photograph and post, or email.

Harry - The change to the POA valve was in 1967 for C60 equipped Corvettes. It's interesting that the 1966 Chevelles equipped w/C60 used the POA valve. Pete

                Saint:

Like Wayne said, the '65 shop manual Supplement tells you how to rebuild the STV. I was able to follow it and my STV worked great. This was years ago when the rubber diaphragm came already attached to the piston, so it was simpler than today.
Fortunately, I was able to get some extra piston/diaphragm assemblies before they disappeared.

Again, don't try to take it apart until you read the '65 Supplement. There's pretty powerful spring in there...

Thanks for the picture showing the STV valve.
The assembly manual for 1964 does not have the exploded view of the STV

I will look for it again in case i did not see it

Look at the copper ring seal marked with a red arrow on STV valve on the picture. Any know if the STV valve overhaul kit comes with that copper seal?1964 STV valve(red arrow).jpg3000091 elbow tube (2).jpg
Anybody knows if any sells the cooler elbow like the one on the second picture?

                      Saint:

On the copper ring seal --- have never seen it. The '65 diagram of a STV does not show it. I don't see why it would be needed since the rubber diaphragm serves as the seal between the housing sections. I don't see how the copper could even be compressed with the low torque on the screws.

On the elbow, send me a PM. I have one, including the rubber hose that connects to it. Mike

The picture showing the copper seal is not of my STV valve but of a restored STV valve i saw on a website
When seeing the picture of the copper seal on a restored STV valve i was sure it was original

On my STV valve there is a rubber seal so i suppose that is correct?

That rubber you see is the diaphragm attached to the piston. It does serve to seal the 2 halves of the housing.

Thanks Mike. That explains my question
The diaphragm is included in the overhaul kit i have ordered
Is the part attached to the diaphragm a part of the restore kit or did you put it on?

Mike, great picture of the piston. Do you have any leads as to where that part might be available today? Is there a frigidaire part number on the box?

Can you turn it over and post a picture of the other side. Thanks
