Claus: that is the piston which is no longer included in the rebuild kits sold. You have to re-use your existing piston and attach the rubber diaphragm to it.

Harry: I don't have an existing shot of the back side, but I should be able to get one posted shortly. The Delco/Frigidaire part number is 6550597. This was probably the hardest # to identify in the whole restoration of the '65 A/C convertible.

I've got a couple of extras, as it turns out, and unlike Joe --I will sell one!

What kind of products do you use to get a fresh/"new" look on the STV valve?

Can you turn it over and post a picture of the other side. Thanks
          Harry --- here's both sides.

bracket close to cooler tube and elbow.jpgDo any know if any Corvette parts companys sell the bracket on the AC box?
It is the bracket under the red arrow on the picture. The bracket is placed on on the 2 halfes of the outer AC box

Claus, go to www.licorvette.com and look at part 35-52. Is that the part you need? I don't think it is but take a look.

Harry that is the bracket for the STV valve

It looks almost like part 35-53A but that part is only for the 1967

Roger: that part will be impossible to find, but there is an easy solution. Get one of the brackets that holds heater & A/C hoses to the inner fender liner.
See Long Island # 24-25C. You can reshape and shorten this piece to replicate the case bracket. It will be undetectable from the original. Mike

You are right Mike. Why did i not think of that
The overhaul kit for the STV valve is it obvious which o ring goes where and that silicone or whatever it is on the tubed is uses to what?
24-25C bracket can be used as the bracket that sits on the 2 halfs of of the outer AC box.jpegSTV DIAPHRAGM KIT.jpeg
Here is the bracket i can shape and the STV diaphgram kit
Where doe i use the graphite lubricant on the STV valve?

A light application of the graphite lube goes into the depression of the diaphragm where the metal cup (on the spring) is seated. The graphite is just there to keep the metal cup from chafing the rubber as it moves up & down. Mike

Claus, the diaphragm is formed for ease of use in the molding process. When you install it in the STV you need to reverse the cup. Meaning, the tit that holds it to the piston in on the outside.

Harry do you mean that i have to turn the diaphragm upside down and push out the tit that way sort of speak?

Yes, that's correct. As soon as you take the STV apart you will see what I mean.

Vintage Air connection using o rings.jpgI wonder if most of the pipe connections for the AC have connections using o rings
Like on the drier, STV valve, compressor, condensor, muffler and tubes?
Like the green o ring on the picture?
Note that this is a picture i found on the net and it is not a picture of Corvette factory AC but a picture of Vintage Air

They changed into POA valve in 1967
