L71 rear main bearing seals and oil pan gaskets

I am about to tackle that annoying, 3 year old rear main oil leak in my '67. What gaskets and seals are the best for this today? And where can I get them? Thanks.

The best 2 piece rear seal for your application is GM #10117767 or Fel-Pro #2918. Install STRICTLY in accordance with the procedure and diagrams described in the Chevrolet Service Manual. If your crankshaft seal journal is grooved, the only way to stop a leak is with a special "off-set lip" seal.

The best SEALING oil pan gaskets are the one piece "rubber" type. No such GM gasket is available for your application. The Fel-Pro part number is OS-30061T. However, this gasket is BLUE. If you want a black gasket, I believe one of the other manufacturers (maybe Cometic) has an equivalent gasket in black rubber.

Mike a tip to sealing the oil pan gasket, one piece ot other wise. Is to put a dab of permtex gasket maker in the cornors of engine block rear and timing cover front. The one piece gasket will require slightly longer bolts, generally I believe they come with the oil pan gasket set.

make sure you use the proper sealant on the rear main cap where it sets against the block. the GM shop manual shows where to use the sealer
