Re: 72 distributor identification tag
Rick I believe the Red is out. I think that if the aluminum is out you would be able to read. the part no. and date.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 72 distributor identification tag
Rick when installed on car the numbers and letters will be face out. If installed wrong you may not be able to read when judging.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 72 distributor identification tag
bottom line answer-nobody we know watched you're specific dist being built. I'd go with the consensus, and have red if I were getting a repro and had a choice.- Top

Re: 72 distributor identification tag
Many of us have seen the tag ether way silver/red as Mike pointed out the spacing is important and red being the seen more often. What Ed is saying the raised number/letters stamping should be pointing out that is the indicator to observe the color is secondary.- Top

Here's the 1H2 dated tag from my F20 build date 1972. Readable from the silver side.
