Dip stick color on power steering pump cap

For the metal power steering pump caps used on mid year corvettes, I have seen caps with both a white or black dipstick; which color is correct? And if one is correct, what vehicle was the other color used for?

I'm accustomed to seeing the black dipstick; don't know what application the white one was used on.

Black is what I thought also, but I see some white ones pop up on ebay ever now and then, and they don't appear to be repos, or at least not new repos.

AND JG says Cap is Semi Gloss Black But all the Originals I see look bare metal??? Which is Correct????
