    Short Shifter 1963

    All:

A friend of mine just bought a '63 SWC project. I checked it out this weekend. It's fairly original. One thing that I noticed was that the shifter, which looks stock with the reverse lever, except for the white knob, is very short. Has anyoune seen this before? Was it a common customizing thing in the '70s to shorten them. I never saw this before. Thanks in advance -

    Regards,
    Frank

'63 shifter is same as '62 and earlier, and indeed is "short" relative to the '64-up version. Without measurements, it is hard to evaluate, but if the reverse lockout is in place and working, it is doubtful it is "short"

Could the shifter possibly be a Hurst Shifter with a aftermarket Corvette T handle?
