Resotration of jack storage area - 1982

I've got a 1982, non-collectors. While it will never be a show car as I think it's not numbers matching I'm trying to get it back into shape. The area for storage of the jack is a mess. Hopefully you can see the pictures below. The main problems are that there are areas where whatever coating was in the area is gone and I'm down to the pure surface materials. There is also a lot of just greasy stuff in the area. So that leads me to a few questions / thoughts.
1. What is the area originally coated with?
2. I though about filling in the low areas with something like fiberglass or bondo but this area is right above the catalytic convertor and gets real hot.
3. Any ideas on something that will stick here that is heat resistent?
