Looking for the correct starter for my 71 LT1. Does anyone know of a source? Also, what is the best replacement shock absorber for this car for flight judging. The car still has the originals, but they are shot. Thanks.

For your starter -- check the usual rebuilders. I would start with John Pirkle because that is who I have had experience with. There are others.
For shock absorbers -- I take it you want both function and successful judging, even though that is not exactly what you said. I can not offer you a no-points-deduct replacement. To my knowledge they don't exist. Everything will be a compromise. For best flight judging results: (edit add
Cosmetically recondition your originals. They do not have to function for flight judging.
