We took the body off of a 72 yesterday and found a small diameter metal tubing on the inside of the driver side frame rail running parallel to the brake line. At the front, the tubing ended near the front body mount and had a 6 inch piece of rubber hose connected to it. The owner doesn't remember disconnecting it from anything when prepping for the body removal. At the rear it ends about 10" from the end of the frame. This end did not have rubber tubing and was not connected to any thing either. Someone commented that the frame appeared to be originally for an automatic but had a bracket added to mount the four speed. Any idea what this might be for? Environmental device of some kind?
