On a 1959 are the locations of the body vin on the tag on the door jamb and the top of the frame under the drivers area, or are there any other locations? And is the tag on the door jamb screwed on or riveted. Thanks!
Tag is held on the ''B'' pilar of the driver door by Two Philips head screws. The same vin number is stamped on the TOP of the chassis about where the driver door closes. With a little effort and a mirror, you can find it. This is a 67 stamp, but you get the idea.

Thank You Jim. So the number is actually stamped in and not stenciled on as it was on earlier years? Also, are those the only 2 spots other than the engine that the VIN is located? Thanks again Jim. I am trying to identify a stolen 59 and I really appreciate the help.

Vin #'s were never stenciled on the frame. I think you may be thinking of the frame part number and date that was stenciled. On a '59, the frame is the only location where you will find a vin#. The engine stamping with Vin #'s did not start until 1960.
Thanks Ed. The memory is not what it used to be, But now that you mentioned it, I do recall that to be the case. Is there only the one spot on the frame where it is located?
Ty,
I have photos of C-1 Frame vins and can explain in more detail to help you find it if needed. Email me at jim@vettefinderjim.com or call 909-794-7905 California Pacific Time.

Assuming they're the same as '57 (and probably '53-'60), they're probably a medium carbon steel, definitely not stainless, as they're hardened thread cutting type BT #8 X 3/8 pan head Phillips drive.
