Read what is covered, and then read it again. We were offered extended coverage on a recent purchase. Water pump would be covered but damage from overheating because of pump failure would not be.

I am a GM dealer and as long as it is sill in factory warranty you can purchase a GMPP. They are well worth it I see them work in my service department every day,

this is why i say the dealers should sell them at cost because it will bring work into their shop. i have never figured out why GM does just not add the cost of the extended warranty to the price of a new car and extend the factory warranty

You guys are spooking me. I want to buy a 08 or newer Corvette but after reading all the problems or perceived problems I may keep driving my 67's & 70'S. I can see miner things going wrong but some of the stuff on here is scary. I just bought a new Ford F 150 platinum truck & traded my 05 that had 135,000 Mi on it. NOT one problem! I only serviced the truck every 4000 Mi. I have never bought a extended warranty for anything I buy. What is going on with the new Vetts? I don't know about car service contracts but retail ones have a 100% markup 50% for the salesperson & 50% for the store

As far as I know, nothing is going on with new 'Vettes. My 2012, so far (only a year) has had nothing but one oil change. If you go on the other forum you may read about issues, but as far as I can see even there, there is nothing unusual about new 'Vettes vs. any other new car. The issue is one of insurance, as others have mentioned. Do you want to be self-insured or take out a policy, just in case of catastrophe (lemon) with a new car. That's a personal choice with any car, or even your house, etc. But as far as I know, the C6 'Vettes are not anything out of the ordinary as far as problems go.

No Brian, I am not saying you can or can not. I don't know all the ins and outs of your situation. Make the call to a dealer selling GMPP to find out. BTW: I am told Gm no longer owns or adminisers GMPP> It was sold to some one else. Slowly all of GM is being sold, dismanteled, or killed off.

Terry, I checked the delivery date for the car was 7/2007 so it's out of the 5 year period. Carchex wants $2400 for thier best contract at 5/75,000 miles. I think I'll pass.

Thank you all for your good input!

                    Ken,

Go for it! The new C6's are great cars and very reliable. You can always find posts from people with problems, but what you don't see are posts from people without problems as there is nothing to complain about. There are a LOT of C6 owners out there who have never had any issues with their cars. Just make sure that if you are buying a used car to verifiy that it has been properly maintained and not abused just as you would when buying any used car.

We sell a new warranty now that has a money back guarantee. You put the warranty on, keep it to full term of the warranty. If you have no claims, all money is refunded. !!
