Proper 69 L-68 intake manifold gaskets?

Hi all. I have posted about oil in my intake, pulled intake and found oil on bottom section of intake gaskets, oil film in head intake runners, so in process of measuring angle / mating surface of intake to heads.

But, I researched and find some posts (Camaro forum) that the intake gaskets I took off, Fel-Pro 90665 (MS91240), is not correct for an aluminum intake / iron head combination. They say a Fel-Pro 12xx series is correct, otherwise oil sucking can occur.

So, is there a correct intake gasket for my L-68?

    Tks. Doug

If you have an angularity problem between the intake manifold and heads no gasket set is going to correct it.

Notwithstanding that, I prefer an embossed gasket for intake manifold side gaskets. While this type was once very common, these days the easiest way to get this type is to buy the reproduction gasket set available from most of the suppliers. However, a Fel Pro 1212 ought to work just fine and is a higher quality gasket than what was previously installed on the engine.

Hi Joe, yes, first I will check / correct the angles.

Also, I find the prior owner ported out the head intake runners, and at 2 3/16 by 1 7/8 the only gasket I can find in that size is a Mr Gasket. They have an Ultra Seal and a Ultra Seal III. I am told their Ultra Seal as well as the Fel-Pro series you mentioned is the proper material for an aluminum intake to cast iron heads. I prefer the Fel-Pro but they don't have the proper size and I don't think I can alter them enough to fit. I think I should also consider porting the intake somewhat to match close to the head intake runners.

      Tks. Doug
